About the Artist

Emily Collins Kulze is from the coastal town of Beaufort, SC where she grew up teaching herself art through observation. Early on, she recognized her passion for painting and sought to improve and explore other disciplines through various summer programs. In high school, she attended programs at Winthrop College, SCAD, and was granted scholarship to study abroad in Spoleto, Italy. Undecided on whether to pursue a career in arts or sciences, Emily attended Wake Forest University so that she could explore both.

At Wake Forest, it became her pursuit to become a modern-day Renaissance woman.  Emily began her collegiate career as a studio art major, a member of the Wake Forest Dance Company, and avid student in the liberal arts. However, after returning from a semester in Paris studying art, she began volunteering as an art therapist and discovered she was missing the balance of science and service to others in her fields of study. To fulfill her school motto, Pro Humanitate: the use of knowledge, talents, and compassion to better the lives of others, she delved completely into the Pre- Allied Health program at Wake Forest to complete her undergraduate degree.

Emily strives to connect with community by displaying her work in local businesses and events. She is currently a featured artist at Made in ALX and Made in Virginia. Most recently, she was a proud participant of Bethesda Row Arts Festival, Art on the Avenue in Del Ray, March 150 at Premiere Gallery, and Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach, Florida. Additionally, she conducts most of her business via an online platform.

Currently, Emily is satisfying her innate desire to create and care for others as a stay home mom and full-time artist. The collection exclusively curated for Gibson Island is a culmination of landscapes, florals, and nostalgic scenes that encourage moments of pause and reflection. Emily remarks, “creating has always been my innate gift that brings clarity to my inner self but also allows me to connect with others on a spiritual level by rippling peace, inspiration, and relatability into the community.”
