There is a radiance about this painting made possible by the warm sun breaking its way through the clouds after a summer rain. The gentle blues on the board walk suggest damp wood and puddles after the recent downpour. The sky lusters with white lined clouds, allowing the rays of light to turn the dunes into golden hues.
For me, it was a moment of profound peace that helped me cope during trying times. The peace came from being completely present, observing the ever-shifting sky and patterns of light, while holding my newborn son. The lines of the shadows led us to the sandy shore. It was the first time our son had experienced the beach, which was a reminder to maintain awe and curiosity about our surrounding world.
My intent for this painting is to bring peace to anyone who is experiencing loss, depression, anxiety, or any other storm in their life. I want to guide the viewer to the sanctifying experience of seeking the light after a storm.
