On a wellness retreat in Mexico, I paused at the base of the mountain before a hike to breath in the beauty of the wildflowers. Instead of being a visitor there, I felt as if I was one with my surrounding environment. Here, I discovered a sense of belonging that was not circumstantial. Instead, I felt a deep sense of knowing that I was uniquely and intentionally created. I hope that this painting or others can transfer to the viewer this feeling of belongingness, inspired by awe in nature.
